P.V.P.Siddhartha Institute of Technology constituted women’s cell in 2010. One of the objectives of women’s cell is to preside and resolve any harassment towards women in the college premises. As per the guidelines of government given in Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013, a committee was formed in March 2016 to address issues and complaints regarding sexual harassment.

• To prevent discrimination and sexual harassment against women, by promoting gender amity among students and employees.
• To uphold the commitment of the Institute to provide an environment free of gender based discrimination.
• To lay down procedures for the prohibition, resolution, settlement and prosecution of acts of discrimination and sexual harassment against women, by the students and the employees.
• To deal with cases of discrimination and sexual harassment against women, in a time bound manner, aiming at ensuring support services to the victimized and termination of the harassment.
• To recommend appropriate punitive action against the guilty person to the authorities.
• To promote a social and psychological environment to raise awareness on sexual harassment in its various forms.

Procedure for Approaching the Committee:

• A complaint of discrimination or sexual harassment may be lodged by the victim or a third party. The written complaint should contain a description of each incident(s). It should include relevant dates, timings and locations; name of the respondent(s);
• A written complaint may be addressed to the Chair of the Committee or to members of the committee.
• If the complaint is made to any Head of the Department, they may forward it to the Convenor of the Committee.
• A copy of the statement along with all the evidence and a list of witnesses submitted by the respondent.
• The Committee may, before initiating an inquiry, at the request of the aggrieved woman, take steps to settle the matter between her and the respondent through conciliation.
• No monetary settlement shall be made as the basis of conciliation.

Committee assures a time bound process of resolving the issues, while maintaining the confidentiality of information, assurance of non-retaliation, counseling or other enabling support where needed.
